About Georgia Community Resource Center
The Georgia Community Resource Center aspires to obtain a collaborative partnership with community and organizational leadership. Our vision embraces the "whole" community voice: leadership, community members and concerned citizens. Building a collaborative partnership based on honest, respectful and ongoing conversations is critical to our mission. This approach or "best practice" empowers residents to act upon a relevant and needs based shared vision, which overtime facilitates sustainability.
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and you feed them for a lifetime".
At the Georgia Community Resource Center empowering individuals to "control their destiny" is essential. We believe in Cognitive Behavioral Interventions (CBI), which are practices and techniques utilized to alter actions and ideas. These pro-social behavior interventions seek to reverse the popular concept that thinking precedes or controls actions into "our actions can control our thinking," and situational outcomes.
The Georgia Resource Community Center (GCRC) also maintains that a shared community vision is central for effective change. Long-term commitment from residents, community based service organizations and public-agency leaders is vital. Essentially, it will "take the whole village" for change to manifest. The GCRC also believes that private and public resources should focus on revitalizing the neighborhood by improving its physical infrastructure. This visible changes acts to strengthen community expectations and the community at large.
